George Rishmawi-IMEMC & Agencies - One Islamic Jihad operative was killed and two Israeli
soldiers were wounded on Tuesday morning, as Israeli troops invaded the northern
West Bank city of Nablus, claiming that they are attempting to arrest claimed
wanted Palestinians, Palestinian sources reported.
Local sources said four Palestinians were injured in the ongoing exchange
of fire.
The assassinated operative was identified as Ahmad Raddad, from the village
of Saida, a senior leader of Al-Quds Brigade, the armed wing of the Islamic
Jihad Movement in Palestine.
One of the soldiers, an officer, was described as lightly wounded, while
the other was moderately injured. Both were rushed to the hospital Tuesday
morning, Israeli sources.
At least 50 soldiers entered the city in a pre-down invasion and surrounded
a local house in Rafidia neighborhood in the west of the city, eyewitnesses
reported.
Apparently, troops received intelligence information that Raddad was hiding
in this building. Clashes erupted between the fighter and the Israeli troops
upon their attempt to enter the building.
On Monday night, Israeli Air force gun ships killed two operatives of
al-Aqsa Martyrs brigade, the armed wing of the outgoing ruling party Fatah, and
wounded four civilian bystanders.
In response, Al-Aqsa and Al-Quds brigades announced in a joint press
release that they have fired home-made shells at the military installation at
Nahal Oz crossing, early Tuesday morning. No damage was reported.
Maan news agency, said brigade operatives vowed "an earthquake" response to
the ongoing assassination of resistance operatives saying that suicide bombing
are the only way to respond. |
